Role Overview

We’re hiring an Account Manager to own and grow our existing customer base.

This role is responsible for renewals, upsells, and cross-sells across Directus Cloud and Enterprise accounts. You will ensure long-term customer success from a commercial perspective — protecting ARR, driving expansion, and identifying new use cases within existing organizations.

This is a revenue-carrying role focused on retention, expansion, and account development.

What You'll Do

Own Renewals

  • Manage the full renewal lifecycle across a portfolio of accounts

  • Drive proactive engagement 90–120 days before contract expiration

  • Negotiate renewals and ensure strong retention and predictable ARR

Drive Expansion (Upsell & Cross-Sell)

  • Identify expansion signals (usage growth, new projects, AI initiatives, geographic expansion)

  • Position additional Directus capabilities (Cloud scale, Enterprise features, governance layers, Directus future products where relevant)

  • Build expansion plans for high-potential accounts

  • Partner with AEs when strategic or multi-entity expansion is required

Develop Account Plans

  • Map stakeholders across technical and business functions

  • Identify new departments, projects, or regions using fragmented data systems

  • Create land-and-expand strategies within each account

Collaborate Cross-Functionally

  • Partner with Customer Success to align on adoption and health signals

  • Work with Product and Solutions Engineering on complex expansions

  • Provide structured feedback from customers into Customer Success, GTM and product loops

Forecast & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate renewal and expansion forecasting

  • Track NRR, churn risk, and expansion pipeline

  • Maintain disciplined CRM hygiene

What We're Looking For

  • 3–7+ years in SaaS account management, renewals, or customer sales

  • Proven track record managing ARR and exceeding expansion targets

  • Experience with technical products (developer tools, data platforms, infrastructure, CMS, AI tooling preferred)

  • Strong negotiation skills with commercial discipline

  • Comfortable navigating technical and executive stakeholders

  • Structured thinker with strong forecasting accuracy

  • Experience in open-source or hybrid (open-core + commercial) models is a plus

  • Experience in both Cloud and Self-hosted models is a plus

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data-intensive systems (databases, streaming pipelines, search, caching layers, or storage engines).

  • Experience with APIs and developer platforms (public-facing or internal platform tooling).

  • Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization in Rust.

  • Exposure to building "product-led" platform features: turning ambiguous product needs into shippable technical plans.
